in loving memory...1963/2002 Kevin Smith

Go Home!

Kevin was better known for his portrayal of the god Ares on our favorite show, Xena Warrior Princess (and also on Hercules.) He first appeared in the Xena episode #6, The Reckoning. And since that day in 1997 fans of the show couldn't get enough of his off-beat male egoist character. Of course, in real life Kevin was nothing like his alter ego. His wife said he was quite amused by his "beefcake" image. Fans who have met him said he had one of the greatest senses of humor they'd ever run across. When fans think of Kevin's character it evokes feelings of bloodlust (heck, just *lust* sometimes), greed, envy, power, and even love. While Kevin might have carried those things inside of himself, just as we all do, his more prominant characteristics were a great sense of humor, an easy and laid back style, and the appearance of someone who's shoulder you could cry on just as easily as laugh with. To everyone he touched, he will be sorely missed. This page is to pay tribute to a man who left us too quickly. We should all rejoice in what he gave us, and not dwell in the sadness of his loss.

I am asking anyone and everyone who has been touched by this tragedy to rejoice in Kevin's life with me. Share photos, or stories with me that remind you of Kevin during his wonderful life. Webmasters, if you've created tribute images to him I would *love* to host them here! I'll provide a link and a recomendation to visit your site either above or below whatever you submit. This is a place I want people to come to remember what a great man Kevin was, not to remember that he's passed away. Let's all celebrate his life here, now, today...and forever!

Tributes:
Please visit the sites, or email the people who've made these tributes. They cared enough to share them, it would be awesome if they knew people cared about what they made. This way we can all share in his life.

These two poems were written by Mehlaa. One was written just a few days after Kevin's death, the other a year later. I think they can be used to show the healing that takes place with time. And also to show that Kevin will never be forgotten!

In my Heart.

We never met but still it hurts.
The tears came when I read the words.
"Actor Kevin Smith dies after fall in China. " I read.
And now I can't get those words out of my head.
Lots of things are now running around my mind.
"Why someone so young and so kind."
I was sure you would heal from your fall.
You were young and strong after all.
Now you are gone and to a better place they say.
A peaceful place without hurt, no pain on your way.
But here on earth we now have to learn one thing.
That we can't see you and never again will hear you sing.
Your gentle eyes and warm smile I'll never forget.
The are in my heart and mind, they'll never be dead.

In my memory always.

The last year has quickly gone by.
But still, sometimes, the question: "Why?"
Answers I probably will never know.
Still, that you were special, I want to show.

In my heart your talent, the smile you wore.
And not just my heart, I know there are more.
Your life touched many, who won't forget your name.
Because you were loved, it was more than just fame.

this day while writing and thinking of you.
I look up at the winter sky, so cold and blue.
My heart and thoughts go out to your loved ones, so far away.
Wishing that there were comforting words I could say.

Words never seem enough to explain what I feel.
But the words, the thoughts, the feelings are real.
Warm thoughts and loving feeling to your family I sent.
Warm thoughts and loving feelings for you will never end.

In my memory always.

From Xena's Mystical Suite:
A fan's memory
"You might want to have a look... though in the picture you can obviously tell that my roommate's who's name is Angela and Kevin both are having a grand ole time together they don't know that Danielle is popping up in the picture behind them and when the photo op was finished between Angela and Kevin, my other roommate who was taking a picture had seen Danielle put her head behind like that started laughing. And of course Kevin and Angela wanted to know why so they both begged her to tell them.. so Tracy, while laughing so hard, told both of them that Danielle had popped up behind them.. Kevin then turned around and gave Danielle a mock glare as did Angela.*LMAO* it was funny... I will always be grateful to Kevin and Danielle for showing us a good time in Orlando a few years back."
